Messahel CopenhagueThe Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel paid an official visit to Copenhagen, Denmark, on 9 and 10 January 2019, and to Helsinki, Finland, on 11 and 12 of the same month, in response to invitations of his Danish and Finnish counterparts, Anders Samuelsen and Timo Soini respectively.

The tour aimed to boost the political dialogue and economic partnership with the Scandinavian countries, with which Algeria has traditional relations of friendship and cooperation.

During these two visits, the Head of the Algerian diplomacy discussed with the Danish and Finnish officials the different aspects of the bilateral relations, and especially the economic and commercial partnership, with in projection the perspectives of the development of the cooperation for the coming period.

Messahel exchanged views with the officials of the visited countries on major regional and international issues of common interest, in particular the situation in the Maghreb, the question of Western Sahara, the crisis in Libya, the Sahel, the Africa, the Middle East, African Union – European Union relations, as well as some global issues such as the fight against terrorism and the issue of migration.
