Lamamra AU Sommet Kigali 2016KIGALI (Rwanda)- Industrialization in Africa is essential for the development of the continent, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra said Saturday in Kigali.

Lamamra is representing President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the 35th session of the Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) of the NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa's Development).

"Rapid regional and international economic changes confirm our choices and convictions that industrialization is a key condition in the development of the continent," the representative of President Bouteflika said.

The minister stressed the need to "make more joint efforts to meet the challenges."

"The diversification of our economies, mainly through industrialization, is not only a legitimate right for a continent possesses the required resources to meet the challenge, but a must on the road to the wished emergence and a pledge for a sustainable and quality economic development that leads to structural change for our economies."

Lamamra added that the "pragmatic implementation of the view brought by AU Agenda 2063 in the field is an overriding need for giving a concrete expression to this goal."
