ORAN- Minister of Finance Abderrahmane Benkhalfa announced Thursday in Oran that an operation, allowing the members of the Algerian community living abroad to open foreign currency bank accounts, will be launched in June.
“We will launch in June a new initiative allowing the members of the Algerian community living abroad to open foreign currency bank accounts,” said the minister on the sidelines of an inspection visit to some public banking agencies in Oran.
This measure will allow the Algerians living abroad to secure their money in their countries, especially as the changes occurring in different regions of the world can oblige them to return to their country of origin, he said.
This operation is part of the development of the Algerian banking activity which aims at increasing the number of current accounts from 7 to 17 millions, added the minister.
